With so many great items for $1 each, you really can feast for a buck. “Feast” being a word that conjures classical images of royalty gnawing at huge turkey legs, we leveraged the then-trending “Accidental Renaissance” meme, and based our campaign on a painterly, Baroque aesthetic.
The ads depicted friends feasting on a regal smorgasbord of $1 Taco Bell items. The spread is bathed in light on the left, illuminating the breakfast items, transitioning to candlelight for the late-night options on the right.
Sprinkled throughout the grandiose Baroque imagery are fun hints of modernity, to make the point of modern people feasting like royalty, and to signal we aren’t taking ourselves too seriously.
